BETWEEN STRUCTURE AND AGENCY + SAOIRSE WALL, Tyneside Cinema UK, 25th of October 2018 at 6pm Curated and introduced by Alice Butler, with a live performance by artist Saoirse Wall.This programme of short works examines different facets or experiences of agency to consider what occurs when it is compromised, reclaimed, expanded or channelled elsewhere, specifically to the natural and built environment. With recent films by Irish artists Saoirse Wall, Laura Fitzgerald, Sharon Whooley, Doireann O’Malley and Ronan McCrea, this screening looks particularly but not exclusively at the role of the film protagonist and the struggle to find and maintain a place as cinematic subject. Featuring a live performance by artist Saoirse Wall. This event marks the launch of a tour with LUX to several UK venues over the course of twelve months.
